“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”
FRIENDOR – (frend)
1. An awesome friend who provides a vendor service for your wedding day.
We puffy heart Friendors.
They’ve been the BEST. THING. EVER. In the best case scenario, these friend vendors have your best interests in mind, are experts at their trade, and are cheap-to-free of charge. Yeah, they’re pretty awesome!
For the Ostrich wedding, we have 3 Friendors:
Friendor No. 1:
Miss O’s Hair Stylist – My gal pal D has been cutting my hair for a decade and owns a super cute—and super popular—salon in the Peninsula. We invited her and her hubby to our wedding because they’ve been fun and supportive friends over the years. And when D offered to do my hair for the wedding, I was beaming for days! We have a hair trial in March and I’ll be taking lots of pics to share with the hive. 🙂
Friendor No. 2:
Miss O’s Makeup Artist – Up until 2 months ago, I was STRESSIN’ about who was going to make me up for our little beach wedding. When you have a specific idea for your blissful bride look, it’s easy to be dubious of local makeup artists right? And as I was 99% convinced I would DIY, Mr. O’s friend, TL, casually mentioned his girlfriend, T, wanted to do my wedding makeup. T has been a fabulous makeup artist for years and has been doing wedding makeup for just as long…and they’re one of our most hilarious, fun-loving pals and were already invited guests to our wedding. I squeaked out a “YES!” and did cartwheels around the house for days. We’re scheduling my trial in the next week or so, stay tuned!
Friendor No. 3:
Our iPod DJ & Emcee – I think I’ve casually mentioned that since Mr. O and I are such music fanatics, we’ve opted to go the iPod DJ route for all of our wedding day music. But the iPod can’t play itself, so we’ve entrusted my awesome HS bestie, S, to be our iPod DJ. And since he’s a professional musician and performer, he also agreed to be our Emcee for the night and my main contact for my Wedding Coordinator. Um, yes, yes, yes please!
In our case, 2 of the 3 friendors offered their services. But fellow brides, if you have friends who are also amazing at their craft, don’t be shy! We approached our friend S in this way: “S, we wanted to ask you first, because we trust you like crazy and consider you the best at what you do—will you be our Emcee for our wedding? It’s totally OK if you’d rather not, (SERIOUSLY!) but we wanted to ask you first.” And when he—and the other friendors—said yes, we asked them what their fee was, like any other vendor. Just because we’re friends didn’t mean we felt entitled to a free service, and we wanted that to be clear. No shady stuff! But because they’re our pals, they refused any sort of payment. So, we’re shopping for cool thank you gifts for them…send your gift ideas our way!
Having three amazing friends who also want to support us with their mad skillz on our wedding day is more than we could’ve wished for. 🙂
Will you have Friendors for your wedding? Do tell!
