After we ran out of videographer options I had a mini freak-out (yes, this one was mini). I started to think maybe all videographers in town were out of our budget. As a last resource, Mr. Toadstool asked GM P if he knew someone. GM P is a reporter for a local paper, so we were hopeful he could point us in the right direction. Luck struck, and in less than an hour P contacted his former classmate who had just opened a photo studio; he sent us a quote that was, wait for it”¦under budget!
This calls for a happy dance:

So, I scheduled an appointment at Estudio 54, a fairly new photo and video studio. I met with Hector and Francisco (P’s friends) who showed me some of the wedding videos they have under their belt. I really like it, hive—I was expecting much less for that price and, although I wasn’t in love with the editing (effects and timing—minor things), I loved the quality and could see the potential. They had great videos filmed with only one camera—take that, annoying videographer from the bridal expo.
Turns out Hector and Francisco are photographers, and the actual videographer was not there, so I scheduled a second meeting to talk with David, the videographer, and sign the contract. What can I say, hive? Good quality and an unbeatable price—a girl can’t deny that.*
I was very pleased at the next meeting when I realized David has been in the business for quite a while (he actually worked with one of our top-contender photographers). We sat for a while and chatted about his work and what I expect; he listened to all my requests and concerns and asked what I liked and didn’t like about the videos. He made me feel confident that he was going to do a great job and make sure I like it.
Here’s their most recent work. (They actually asked me to wait till today to publish it, because the bride and groom didn’t have it yet, so it’s fresh from the oven.)
This is a two-camera video, but other than the ceremony I don’t really see how an additional camera makes a difference. I’m confident we’ll get what we want.
Was/is videography important to you?
*We were in luck; their low prices are because of them being a new business—they’ll increase their prices starting January 2013. Just in time!
