Smoky Eyes Bridal Look
Another confession: I kind of hate Pinterest. It’s the same 20 images over and over, and forget about clicking on a pinned photo from a browser—you’re forced to go to the app. And God help you if you ever want to cite an image accurately!!!
Ahem. Anyway, this slowly building rage was brought on by searching for “wedding makeup” examples. I had my trial last week and it went well, but as I washed it off that evening, I had a Home Alone moment when I realized I hadn’t taken a photo.
So instead, I have compiled my beauty inspiration from much lovelier girls than I. As usual, I had a pretty good idea of what I didn’t want: no “glowy skin” (just looks oily on me), no glitter (though my high school self would be deeply offended), and for the love of all that is holy, NO LIP LINER. I don’t know if you’ve ever had your makeup done at a counter before, but they always, ALWAYS want to put lip liner on me, and it is ALWAYS TERRIBLE.
This is painfully accurate. | Image via GIPHY
Personally, I like a smoky, lined eye and a neutral lip. I also need a fair amount of coverage on my skin foundation-wise, due to the whole “teenage acne” thing continuing well past my teenage years. Height of rudeness.
This is my favorite image out there and my main inspiration. So lovely. | Image via Tiny Touchups

The last two photos are actually from the makeup artists we will be using. They are fantastic—super skilled with both airbrush foundation and false lashes application. In talking it over with my mom, she got so excited that she demanded that she and my sister get their makeup done, too. Therefore, even though we’re forgoing the big bridal party, it will still be a morning of getting-ready shenanigans.
And finally, I am planning on getting a mani/pedi with my sister before we leave for the bachelorette on Thursday. I was worried about the polish lasting through Saturday, so we’ll be springing for gel manicures. And considering the festive season, I’m eschewing the pearly pink bridal nails tradition and going deep red!
What kind of wedding makeup do you like? Are you doing anything unique? And do you also wish all lip liners would die fiery deaths?
