Winter Bridal Accessories
Every bride knows that what you wear on your wedding day extends far beyond the gown you choose. As I sat down to write about the accessories I selected, I realized that I had bought everything online (and subsequently cracked myself up titling this post). I enjoy brick-and-mortar shopping, but I definitely feel there are often better deals to be had on the good ol’ web. So without further ado, here are the Sixpence accoutrements:

SHOES. I really wanted to do the “something old, something new” tradition for some reason, so I scrapped my original plans for nude flats and chose these instead. I can manage well in wedges (true heels are another story), and I figured navy suede was appropriate for the season.

BRACELET. I was set on a three-strand pearl bracelet, and was having a bit of a difficult time finding one…until it occurred to me to check Amazon. I found this lovely piece for an amazing price, and it did not disappoint when it arrived. The pearls themselves are not perfectly round, but it doesn’t detract from the overall effect. Authenticity is important to me and the fact that they are real is enough!

EARRINGS. In keeping with the pearl theme, I briefly considered my pearl studs that I wear daily. But for one’s wedding day, one just needs a little more sparkle, so after cruising through what felt like billions of options on Overstock, I went with the above. I love that the pave is also reflected in my engagement ring and wedding band.
UNDER-THE-DRESS. These are to be determined—but I will DEFINITELY be sporting some Spanx, along with a pair of tights (it’s December in Chicago, y’all). I also hope to pick up some cute bridal undies, but no bra is necessary—my amazing seamstress sewed cups into my dress and they work perfectly.

SHRUG. After seeing the beautiful stoles Mrs. Gray Wolf used in her incredible wedding (I’m definitely a bit of a GW fangirl), I loved the idea of a faux(!) fur shrug to keep warm. I originally bought a golden-brown version (currently sold out, but you can see the style here) for a great price. However, once we decided on Benjamin’s ensemble (more on that soon), I realized a gray option would be better. So after quite a bit of searching, I found this one and ordered it. I was a little nervous about shopping overseas (has anyone seen those articles comparing the product photo and the actual item shipped? Hilarious) but it came in perfect condition.
And there you have it. I’m shiny and sparkly and ready to party!…or something.
