Zonzo Estate Wedding in Melbourne
After a chance meeting at a burger bar, Frances had a hunch that she was going to one day marry Chris. With miles between them (she in Victoria, he in Melbourne), Frances knew that after six months of dating, she had to move back to Melbourne to be closer to Chris. After he proposed, they got to planning their dream boho wedding. Frances and Chris’ Zonzo Estate Wedding was filled with laughter, love, and lots of rustic details. They did everything their way and it turned out exactly as they’d envisioned: Perfectly.

We actually met at a burger café and after chatting, Chris asked me out on a date. The first thing I actually noticed about him were his amazing blue-green eyes; there was something so gentle and genuine about him!
One date led to another and we started dating long distance as I was living in country Vic at the time. I’d never met anyone like Chris and after 6 months, I knew that I had to move back to Melbourne. I think I knew that I’d marry him after our first meeting, though. I remember driving home in complete and utter shock, thinking to myself that this guy could be the one!
A year after we met, he took me out to dinner and as we were strolling along the waterfront at Williamstown, he got down on one knee and proposed.
We wanted a theme that suited the venue, which was quite rustic with rolling countryside views. We wanted our wedding to be beautiful but warm and joyful, just like my relationship with Chris.
How did you choose your wedding gown?
I walked past a bridal store with a window display that really caught my eye. The styling was very bohemian and romantic—very different from most bridal stores I’d seen. I went in and within 10 minutes I knew I’d found my dress. I felt beautiful, but most importantly I felt like myself.
I made the cover for our wedding guest book, and guests took Polaroids and taped them into the book with a message. I added a touch of rustic twine around the guests’ names and bonbonniere (favor) jars as well. Most of the decorations were also a collaboration between us and Zonzo Estates.
What were your favorite or most memorable aspects of your wedding day?
Chris’ face when I was walking down the aisle! I’ve always been a sucker for his eyes.
Is there anything you would have done differently?
Absolutely nothing! The whole process of planning and the day was stress-free, well organized and lovely.
Do you have any advice for future brides?
- Start planning early, and keep records of everything in spreadsheets.
- Consider hiring a car vs. going with expensive chauffeurs.
- Do lots of research on Pinterest, Instagram, and online and make sure you read lots of reviews.
- Do what you like! Don’t be pressured by other people’s opinions.
