Decorating your wedding venue may seem like a tall task, and flowers can certainly start to add up once you begin adding items on with your florist. However, if you’re getting married outdoors, you may be able to nicely play off of the existing landscape of your venue and not have to invest in so many flowers. This is not only a wonderful way to make more room in your wedding budget for other things, but it’s also a great way to play up the natural beauty of your wedding venue. There are many different ways to do this, so read on to learn how you can take advantage of the natural beauty that your venue has to offer.

Use Potted Plants

This suggestion plays off of a recent wedding trend that has gained popularity amongst couples and florists, and it just happens to help you take advantage of the landscaping of your venue. Potted plants are such a pretty way to line your ceremony aisle for an outdoor wedding, and you can use flowers found around your venue’s landscape to highlight those plants. Plus, this is a great way to create arrangements that you can take home with you after the wedding and use for a long time to come in your yard or home, serving as a sweet memento of your big day.

Play on the Color Palette

Your outdoor venue likely has its own color palette embedded into its landscaping. Incorporate your flowers flawlessly into the area by playing on that color palette. Match the palette to seamlessly engrain your flowers into the look of your venue.

Hang Lanterns

Instead of using traditional flower arrangements, consider hanging lanterns on large, arching trees overlooking your ceremony, cocktail, or reception location. You can use flameless candles and sporadic flowers and greenery in these lanterns to enhance the scene.

Go Green

You may not even need to add flowers into your venue’s landscape to create the beautiful wedding scene you’ve been envisioning. For instance, if you’re getting married in a tropical location, consider playing on the landscaping by having your florist make a simple arch of palms for something unique and that fits naturally into the setting.

Keep it Low to the Ground

A lot of couples have an inclination to have their florist create arrangements that are tall and over-the-top, but more subtle arrangements that are low to the ground can blend in nicely with beautiful landscaping as a natural fit.

Consider a Statement Piece

If you have a beautifully landscaped venue, you won’t need a million different floral pieces to make the space come to life. However, you may want to consider a statement piece to really tie things together. For instance, a flower arch or arbor with beautiful flowers and lush greenery will nicely complement a well landscaped venue.

Don’t Forget About Branches

If you’re getting married in a lush landscape with overgrown wildflowers framing the area, nicely complement the environment with a flower arbor that features unruly branches. This helps it to look natural in the setting rather than if the arbor was perfectly manicured.

Make it Large

Especially if you’re going with a flower arch, make it oversized and taller than your normal arch to blend in with the trees framing your ceremony site. Include an abundance of greenery in the arch in order to naturally embed it into the landscape while making an amazing statement.

Sometimes Less Is More

Remember that if your landscaping is incredibly beautiful, you may not need much in the way of flowers to make your wedding site look amazing. Go with simple flowers in a couple different varieties in a cohesive color palette, surrounded by greenery. This will have a greater impact than you even realize thanks to the beautiful setting where your wedding is happening.

When you have a gorgeous setting where you plan to tie the knot, you want to play on that as much as possible. Flowers can aid in this nicely to enhance the beauty of where you decided to say “I do.”
