Homemade Chocolate Covered Pretzels with Sea Salt

Ever since I was little I have loved chocolate dipped pretzels. Lately I have been thinking of ways to incorporate them in weddings without it being predictable and boring – and I’ve found the solution!

Chocolate dipped pretzels are your answer for a fun, easy to make treat that can be customized to fit any theme.  Not only that, but this project is great for all ages, so if you have little ones this might be a fun way to involve them into the wedding process. Keep in mind this can be a little messy so keep those paper towels handy.

What You’ll Need:

setup

  1. Pretzels
  2. Chocolate
  3. Food Coloring
  4. Sprinkles (or your decorations of choice)
  5. Wax Paper

Directions:

Step 1 Set up a work station with all your supplies. This includes an area of wax paper to place your dipped pretzels. Make sure to have your decorations in their proper place. The last thing you want is to be running around dripping hot chocolate everywhere.

Step 2 Start melting that chocolate! Put your broken up chocolate of choice into a bowl and place it in the microwave for 1 minute. After 1 minute take the bowl out and stir the chocolate. Keep in mind that the chocolate will not be melted all the way yet. So, continue to put the chocolate in the microwave at 30 second intervals stirring in between each time. If you do not do this then, the chocolate will burn. Nobody wants burnt chocolate!

Step 3 Dip each pretzel into the chocolate until it is covered, then place it on your wax paper. Are your pretzels looking more like chocolate globs? Use a toothpick to poke each pretzel hole and restore its recognizable shape. This basically “pops” the chocolate, kind of like a bubble.

Follow the same steps as above for melting white chocolate. Then, add a few drops of food coloring into the bowl and mix. Keep adding drops of food coloring until you get your desired color.

Step 4 Time to get your decorations on there! Sprinkle or dip to get your desired results. To achieve lines on your pretzels, dip a fork into the colored chocolate and wipe across the pretzels. To achieve dots on your pretzels, dip a toothpick into the colored chocolate and place drops onto the pretzels. If you have a color theme set for your wedding this is a great chance to continue it!

After you have finished decorating, you’ll want placed your pretzels in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes. Viola, you have created your very own personal chocolate dipped pretzels for your wedding!
