Between all the invitations, flowers, seating arrangements, and venue hunting it can be difficult to remember to take time to relax. Sometimes a little pampering is all you need to get back on track, and this sugar scrub is sure to do the trick.
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of oil
- 10-12 drops of essential oil
- Mason jar
A Note about Ingredients:
Sugar: You can use whatever sugar you have on hand, but I recommend using sugars with varying granule sizes like fine white sugar, raw sugar, and brown sugar.
Oil: Fractionated coconut oil is best because it doesn’t have much of an odor but you can use olive or sunflower oil instead.
Essential Oil: If you don’t have any on hand, you can substitute something like vanilla extract or fresh lemon or lime juice.
Step 1: Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl.
Step 2: Once thoroughly mixed, spoon your sugar scrub into your Mason jar. If you don’t have one on hand and don’t feel like driving to the store, feel free to repurpose an old jelly jar or whatever sort of container you have on hand.
Step 3: That’s it! You can then fancy up the jar a little and maybe make a little label to let the receiver know they are loved.
If you would like to take it a step further, you could add the sugar scrub to a little beauty basket. This basket does not need to break the bank—just add in a few items to remind the recipient to slow down and spend an evening at their very own home spa.
Ideas for Other Basket Items:
- A new fluffy towel
- Bubble bath
- Thick, luxurious lotion (tip: baby lotion is very hydrating and often devoid of unnecessary additives)
- Sleep mask
Most of the items, excluding the personal items like lotion, can be found inexpensively at a second hand store—including the basket. You can also find creative ways to repurpose another container. In the photo here, I found a fruit basket we were not using anymore and commandeered it as a gift basket.
Sometimes we need a reminder to slow down and enjoy.
