  • Embroidery hoop
  • Jingle bells
  • Fabric
  • Fabric flower or embellishment
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors

01 Supplies

Embroidery hoops are inexpensive and available in a wide variety of sizes. Hoops that are 3-6 inches wide work best as mini tambourine party favors. You can find them in the embroidery section of your local craft store.

Step 1: Loosen and unscrew the embroidery hoop. This step will separate the two pieces that make up a single hoop. One half is made to fit snugly into the other half.

02 Step 1

Step 2: Separate the two halves from each other. The “outer” hoop has the screw; set this one to the side.

03 Step 2

Step 3: Place a piece of fabric on top of the hoop that does not have the screw fixture. This is the “inside” hoop.

04 Step 3

Feel free to use fabric that suits your wedding style and theme. For best results, use cotton or lace. This is an excellent way to use miscellaneous scraps from other decor projects or your own stash. If you don’t have fabric leftover from other projects, choose a coordinating cotton or lace. The fabric segment should be slightly larger than the hoop.

Step 4: Place the outer hoop over the inner hoop and screw tightly. The fabric should stretch and create a flat, crisp surface. If the fabric is too loose, separate the hoops and pull the fabric to tighten.

05 Step 4

Step 5: Trim the fabric around the circumference of the hoop, leaving an extra 1-1.5 inches of fabric.

06 Step 5

Step 6: Fold over the fabric along the interior of the perimeter. Hot glue in place. As always, use extra precaution and be mindful of your fingers when using a hot glue gun. The glue can get quite hot very quickly.

07 Step 6

Step 7: Hot glue jingle bells to the perimeter of the hoop. On the front side, hot glue an embellishment of your choice. This mini tambourine used a fabric flower. You can also add rhinestones, bows, or even photographs.

08 Step 7

Once the glue is dry, the mini tambourine is ready to rock n’ roll. Make an entire batch or just a few — it’s totally up to you. Children and adults alike will adore dancing the night away with this DIY treat. You can even customize each tambourine with embroidered initials, stickers, or wooden letters. Don’t be afraid to play around with embellishments!
