After the wedding is over and you’re officially married, there’s a newlywed bliss phase that takes place. While this is such a fun time in your marriage, you’ll want to take special care to celebrate it as you can never get this time back. There are so many different ways to enjoy life as newlyweds to really commemorate the time and make the most of it.
1. Host a Dinner Party
One fun way to celebrate your status as newlyweds is to host a dinner party for your closest pals. Work together to plan the menu, get the house ready, and set up the perfect table. Something about hosting for the first time as newlyweds certainly feels fun and celebratory.
2. At-Home Date Night
Have an at-home date night to really take in being newlyweds and to simply enjoy one another’s company. Light candles, get dressed up, choose the perfect meal together, and unwind with a glass of wine. This will feel luxurious and romantic, allowing you to toast in an intimate setting to your fresh marriage.
3. Explore Your City or Town
A way to get out and enjoy being newlyweds is to hit the town and play tourists in your city. Take a day to live like out-of-towners do to see the sights, visit spots you don’t usually frequent, and maybe even take some guided tours. This is a fun and different way to celebrate, getting you to do something a little bit out of the ordinary.
4. Take a Trip
After your wedding is the perfect time to take a vacation. Even if you’re not doing a honeymoon, you can take a mini-moon to commemorate your marriage. If you’ve already done that or it’s not in the cards, booking a trip for the future to look forward to together is a fun activity as newlyweds. Pick a place together, do the research, and create an itinerary you love and then start the countdown until you’re on your way.
Supporting a cause together will feel like a great way to celebrate your new status of being married and to give back all at the same time. Choose a cause that means a lot to both of you and figure out the best way to do some volunteering. Alternatively, you can each choose a cause you want to support and introduce the other to that charity through volunteering together.
6. Recreate Your First Date
To celebrate your recent marriage, go back to where it all began! Recreate your first date, stroll down memory lane, and you’ll have a blast looking at how far you’ve come as a couple.
7. Game Night
Make it a tradition to have a game night every once in a while with your new spouse. Pull out the old-fashioned board games like Scrabble, Monopoly, or Life. Make this time together somewhat of a “digital detox” and put your phones and gadgets to the side in order to really be present and enjoy one another’s company. Another fun idea along the same vein is to work on a puzzle together or some kind of craft. Even doing a home improvement project together can feel fun and will definitely give you a sense of accomplishment together at the end.
8. Have a Picnic
Hit up a local park or beach and bring a picnic of sandwiches, sides, and drinks. Enjoy nature together as well as one another’s company as you indulge in a delicious meal in the fresh air.
9. Binge a Show
Find a TV show that interests both of you and take a weekend to binge it together, snuggling up on the couch with all the snack essentials. This is a relaxing way to spend time together and celebrate being newlyweds after all the craziness of planning a wedding.
There are so many ways to celebrate this special time of your marriage, and you’ll always remember how you felt in the months after tying the knot.
