Our 7 Favorite Airbnbs for a Night Away From Home

Romantic getaway

Is there anything better than a romantic weekend getaway? The wine will be flowing, and the excitement of exploring a new city (or the excitement of doing absolutely nothing at all in a remote location) will be in the air.

As a couple, it’s important to be able to get away from it all: work, family obligations, meetings, housework, and sometimes—yes—the kids, if you happen to have any. When you’ve finally figured out a weekend that’s free from all of your collective responsibilities, take the opportunity and be sure to check out one of these seven favorite Airbnbs for a night (or two, or three) away from home.

1. 1880s Carriage House in Curtis Park – Denver, Colorado

Besides Denver’s unbelievable views and outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and camping, the city is a hotspot for breweries and any kind of restaurant you could possibly want. This 1880s Carriage House in Curtis Park has the makings of a perfect weekend getaway with its close proximity to public transportation (a quick commute to downtown) and access to dozens of restaurants, coffee roasters, and tons of artwork in the RiNo district.

If you don’t feel much like getting out and about, there’s plenty to love about the space itself, which has cool architectural details like exposed brick, French doors that separate the bedroom, and a spacious, modern kitchen where you can prepare a romantic meal for two.

2. The ART COTTAGE at Historic Baldwin Radio Factory – Salt Lake City, Utah

Salt Lake City has become known for more than its religious monuments (which are lovely to look at if you find yourself in Temple Square)—it’s becoming a miniature version of Silicon Valley with several powerful tech companies in town and has the cool downtown vibes to prove it. In addition to the lovely views of the nearby Wasatch and Oquirrh mountains, Salt Lake City has plenty to offer in coffee, shopping at the downtown City Creek Center, and trendy restaurants like Takashi (for sushi) or Meditrina (for tapas).

This lovely studio cottage just a little bit outside of downtown SLC was once part of a factory where they produced the world’s first headphones. In celebration of its musical past, the Airbnb host has put in a record player with a great selection of albums—and don’t worry, there’s plenty of space to dance. With a vintage vibe with modern amenities, this studio is the perfect place to relax at the end of a long day exploring the city.

Who didn’t want a treehouse growing up? Re-experience the magic of childhood in this treehouse Airbnb, which just so happens to be Airbnb’s #1 Most Wished-for Listing in the world. Although it may take a little more careful planning to book a night in this treehouse of our dreams, something tells us it’ll be worth it.

You wouldn’t believe that this secluded treehouse that is described in the reviews as “magical” and “like living in Peter Pan” is located just a few minutes from downtown Atlanta. The treehouse consists of three areas quaintly named Mind, Body, and Spirit, all of which are connected by rope bridges.

This treehouse is clearly a very special spot where you get to fall asleep among the trees and wake up to the sounds of birds singing.

There are plenty of beautiful spots in California, but Fort Bragg may take first prize. Far away from the busy cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco, Fort Bragg has a laid-back pace and some of the most breathtaking natural views in the state (and probably the country).

This photographer’s studio is on the lower level of a gambrel roof barn and is just five minutes away on bike from Main Street in Fort Bragg where there is more cute local restaurants and t-shirt shops than you can shake a stick at. Glass Beach is an absolute must-see while you’re in town, offering stunning views of the water and (you guessed it) tons of natural sea glass to take home for a souvenir.
