Hi! My SO and I are planning to get hitched in about 18 months. We have no timeline, we just know we will do it when we are ready to start a family - which would we be tomorrow if he had his way! He wants the big wedding. I'd rather elope. I am an event planner and I know the physical, financial, and emotional cost that goes into a wedding. I've never been excited to do that for myself. After ten years of weddings and events, they all tend to look cookie-cutter to me. Also, I don't like being the center of attention and I've never felt a wedding day was My Special Day that I had to share with everyone. I'm super shy and I feel marriage vows are intimate. My SO is an extrovert, full of life, has a ton of friends, and is generally the life of the party. We balance each other well. I guess I'm looking to have the most un-wedding wedding I can possibly have (and the cheapest since we are broke). SO is on board for a big ol hillbilly BBQ with live music. Just a casual outdoor gathering of 150 friends, where in addition to corn hole and an open bar there happens to be a wedding ceremony. Then I want to just slink back into the crowd and eat ribs in my pretty dress.
