Low- and non-alcoholic drinks are becoming a staple at weddings. Believe it or not, many people, especially younger generations, are increasingly turning to a non-alcoholic lifestyle or just simply drinking less. Hence, anyone hosting a wedding in 2020 and beyond should have plenty of alcohol-free options on the menu.

If the sound of that makes you roll your eyes, you should give the next few recipes a read. Non-alcoholic and low-ABV drinks do not have to be boring. In fact, there are plenty of concoctions that are so delicious, they will make you forget all about the booze. Best of all, these cocktails do not require any fancy bartending skills and are quite easy to make with simple store-bought ingredients. Should you decide to make these yourself, always experiment a bit with proportions to see what tastes best to you. (Maybe even do that as part of your bachelor(ette) party!)

1. Sgroppino

(Low-Alcoholic)

Ideally served during warmer temperatures, this cooling Italian drink can also double as dessert. It’s recommended to be served in a martini glass, rimmed with sugar.

Instructions:

  • 1 scoop of fruity sorbet (pick your own flavor to taste)
  • Top up with sparkling wine or champagne
  • Garnish with mint and sugar on the rim

2. Pomegranate Moscow Mule

(Non-Alcoholic or Low-Alcoholic)

Switching seasons, this option is perfect for winter settings. The lime-cranberry essence is both refreshing yet cold-weather appropriate. Extra style points for serving it in a copper cup and substituting fresh mint leaves for candied mint leaves.

Instructions:

  • Fill the cup with whole or crushed ice
  • Pour 3 shots of ginger beer
  • Add one shot of pomegranate juice
  • Add 1 TBS of lime juice
  • Add 2-4 TBS of vodka (to taste) OR top up with club soda for a non-alcoholic option
  • Garnish with mint leaves and pomegranate seeds.

3. Rosemary and Bitters Mimosa

(Low-Alcoholic)

Suitable for any time of year, this cocktail feels like an old-fashioned twist on the classic champagne cocktail. As you might have guessed, this is best served in a champagne flute.

Instructions:

  • Mix 1/2 champagne or sparkling wine with 1/2 fresh-squeezed orange juice.
  • Top up with a bit of fresh lemon juice
  • [OPTIONAL] Add a dash of Angostura or bitters
  • Stir and garnish with a rosemary sprig

Note: Garnishes may sometimes be optional, but with this one it’s non-negotiable. To get the full flavor of the rosemary oils, roll a rosemary sprig between the hands for 10 seconds and use it to swirl the drink afterward.

4. Autumnal Gin and Tonic

(Non-Alcoholic or Low-Alcoholic)

For a fall wedding, this tasty mixer will fulfill everyone’s seasonal spice fantasies. And if you want, in lieu of alcoholic gin, you may be interested in finding a zero-proof version, such as Stryyk Not Gin.

Instructions:

  • Fill the cup with whole or crushed ice
  • Pour 1-2 shots of gin (3 if using non-alcoholic gin)
  • Top with Fever-Tree Aromatic Tonic Water
  • [OPTIONAL] Add a dash of Angostura or other bitters for an extra kick

5. Berry Burlesque

(Non-Alcoholic)

Originally from the Aria Resort and Hotel in Las Vegas, this is one completely non-alcoholic cocktail that guests are sure to love.

Instructions:

  • Fill a shaker with ice
  • Add 1/2 shot lime juice
  • Add 1/2 shot honey syrup
  • Add 1 shot blackcurrant purée
  • Shake with enthusiasm, and then strain into a highball glass over fresh ice

  • Blend chilled seedless watermelon chunks into a puree until you have 4 cups of slush
  • Add 1/2 cup of fresh lime juice
