Unique Places to Source Wedding Decor

Wedding decorations can really elevate the look and feel of your event, but typically many decor pieces are accompanied by a high cost. If you’re trying to stick to a strict wedding budget or simply are not looking to spend an arm and a leg on decor, there are alternative options. As long as you’re willing to be a bit scrappy and source decorations from more unique places, you’ll be able to find items you love for your wedding at a fraction of the cost!

Dollar Stores

Instead of hitting up a craft store for decorations, scour your local dollar store to get items on the cheap. This is the perfect place to look for things like candles, candle holders, and even fake flowers.

Discount Stores

Discount stores such as TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods are all the perfect place to find wedding decor at a discount. Items such as glass lanterns, candles, and string lights can be found here at a fraction of the cost of what you’d pay elsewhere. The caveat with this source is that you have to be willing to look early and often as their merchandise is constantly changing. If you find one of something you love and need multiple of them, you may have to visit other nearby stores to find more of what you’re looking for.

Garage Sales and Flea Markets

Scour garage sales and flea markets in your area to find unique pieces of decor that can add some serious character to your event. You can even offer lower than their asking price and score an even better deal!

Antique Shops or Vintage Shows

Shops or shows that offer antique and vintage pieces are another unique place to source decorations for your wedding. Here, you can find beautiful china pieces, old linens, and even serveware for a shabby chic wedding. Usually, buying items at these shows and shops is less costly and it can be a fun experience, too!

Friends and Family Members

If you know people who have recently tied the knot, ask if they have any wedding decor items stored away that they would be willing to let you use. Chances are that if they bought things to use as decorations at their wedding, they’re no longer using them and they’re taking up room in storage. This way, their items get more use and you’re able to save some money.

Facebook Marketplace

Facebook is another great site to check out for decor items. People are constantly selling unwanted items there at a low cost, so make sure to peruse the marketplace tab often to score some deals. Another good option is to join a group for brides on Facebook to see if there is anyone willing to sell or lend out their wedding decor that they’ve already used.

Sites like Craigslist or Freecycle are great places to look for decor items that people are selling or for items that can be repurposed to create decor. For instance, look to see if anyone is selling wood pallets that you can paint and use for decoration purposes at your wedding. Some people may even be giving these items away for free.

Hardware Stores

This may be unexpected, but hardware stores are actually a wonderful place to find wedding decor or items that will assist you in creating your own wedding decor. Garden centers at hardware stores provide lots of options for beautiful decorations, and usually you can find decent prices here or even use coupons. If you have any DIY decor projects on your mind for your wedding, a hardware store is a solid stop to get supplies and provide inspiration.

You don’t necessarily have to spend a bundle on wedding decor to make your ceremony and reception beautiful and unforgettable. Check all of these unique spots for deals and pieces you may not find anywhere else.
