How to Upgrade Your Pre-Wedding Self-Care Routine

Self-care is more important than ever these days. When it comes to preparing for your wedding, you want to feel as good on the inside as you do on the outside. You not only want to physically be at your very best for the biggest day of your life (and the photos) but also mentally and emotionally, too. After all, you’ve got a long day ahead of you—and the rest of your life happily ever. Which is why you want to make sure that your pre-wedding self care routine is replenishing you from top to bottom—and requires more than a good blowout. Here’s what you need to know to upgrade your pre-wedding self-care routine.

Chill Out

Your mind is just as important to keep in check as your beautiful bod. With all the wedding planning you’ve got to contend with, you not only need some time to recharge and de-stress but also time to keep your mind sharp. Meditation works miracles for your mental and emotional health, bringing you a sense of calm, peace, and connection within. It also helps you stay focused and clear, which is super helpful when it come to deciding on all the little things that your wedding needs. Step up your meditation game by changing it up with a walking meditation, creative visualizations (picture how amazing your wedding is going to be!), and breathwork. This way, you won’t get bored and you’ll stretch and calm your mind that much more.

Stay Hydrated with a Twist

You know that water does a body good. From hydrating your skin to helping with weight loss and overall wellness, it’s the ultimate beauty elixir. It’s important to sip on at least eight glasses of water throughout the day (and a little bit more whenever your work out). If water tastes a little boring to you, then step up your water game by adding slices of lemon and cucumber to your water bottle, or swapping out a few glasses with coconut water, which is an excellent source of antioxidants and is a great post-workout drink, too.

Cook up Some Healthy Food

Eating your greens and sticking to a balanced diet that’s filled with whole foods including protein, healthy carbs, and fats, is the best way to look and feel your best on your big day. If the thought of “rabbit food” bores you, get creative with your meals and make an effort to cook different recipes each week. (P.S. Cooking can also a great stress reliever!)

Elevate Your At-Home Workout Game

Working out is a little tricky right now. If you can’t get to the gym, then you’ll definitely want to work on your at-home workout game. YouTube and other online platforms are great resources for ideas and motivation, as well as an opportunity to mix up your routine. Keep your workout tight with some amazing accessories like hand weights, bands, sliders, and kettlebells. Your body will love the challenge.

Don’t Forget Your Sleep Hygiene

Getting your necessary ZZZs is just as important as eating your greens and drinking water. Commit to a stable sleep routine that gives you a solid seven to nine hours per night, waking up and going to bed at the same time each night. Sleep is a wonder drug: it boosts your immune system, boosts your mood, and helps your cells regenerate. It’s called beauty sleep for a reason! Make it even more indulgent by making it a nightly ritual to wind down each night with aromatherapy and/or lavender-scented lotions and candles. Quit screen time at least an hour or two before bed, and instead of scrolling through social media, commit to a journaling practice and write out everything that you’re feeling. And don’t forget to enjoy reading a good book!

Upgrading your pre-wedding self-care routine is a matter of sticking to the basics, and elevating them in a creative way that will help you stick with your regimen to your big day and beyond.
