Classic City Steel is led by steel drummer Paul Thornton.   Paul has performed throughout the southeast and internationally for 14 years.   Beginning his career as a music student at the University of Georgia, Paul studied under Dr. Thomas McCutchen and continues to perform with Dr. McCutchen and "Tropical Breeze".  Past performances include:  Trinidad and Tobago National Steelband Panorama (2005, 2008), The Atlanta Jazz Festival, Classic City Brew Fest, PANorama Caribbean Music Fest, Goombay Festival, Georgia Board of Regents Gala, University of Georgia, Suwanee Day, and various other private parties, corporate events, wedding receptions, etc.

Paul is the director of the Kennedy Elementary School "Dragons of Steel", an elementary school steel band in Winder, GA.
