History
Doko Manor first opened its door in March of 2013. The name “Doko” is believed to be an Indian name meaning “watering place” also has an African meaning of “where the iron horse drinks.” Both meanings are deemed appropriate, as steam engines stopped in Blythewood for water and fuel centuries ago. The water was stored in a wooden tower which was used until steam engines disappeared. Pictures of the water tower as well as other historical pictures of Blythewood are on the walls aligning the hallways of Doko Manor.
