Betty Manzano was in the Interior Design field for over 15 years where she was a residential designer for Sciuga Custom Builders. As their designer for model homes she was also their lead designer for the Parade of Homes from 2004 -2009 and her work received many first place awards. Betty’s ideas were always innovative, unique, and very creative bringing fresh and vibrant themes to the show each year. She retired in 2009 from the residential field where she took a hiatus from design and accepted a management position at Yankee Candle located in the now Destiny Mall. The change was refreshing and challenging as new ideas came from the retail environment.

She also studied at Onondaga Community College where she received her Associate of Science degree in Interior Design. As a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and the national Kitchen and Bath association, her work was showcased in several of Onondaga Community College Campus art exhibits. She was also the first recipient of the Anne Demore Davis Memorial Award, presented by the National Kitchen and Bath Association Her work also held position in the third floor lobby of The Whitney Technology Center during several semesters as inspiration to upcoming students.

In 2010 her daughter became engaged and Betty began “designing” her wedding. Throughout the process she found a new inspiration for her talent and a spark was ignited to a new path of design where she has created one of a kind weddings, showers, and private events. Her unique candy bars are not only delicious but are an important part of her designs, creating displays that are beautiful and enhancing to the theme of the occasion.

Currently Betty has a new partner – Her daughter Missy! Missy, always an entrepreneur at heart, combined with her past career as a successful dancer and choreographer, allows her to bring her own unique creativity and experience to the table. We all look forward to this new partnership where we will witness first hand a “dance of design “where together this dynamic mother-daughter team will bring your dreams to life!

Missy Manzano-Shafer showed signs of entrepreneurship at a very young age. At eleven she started a babysitting company titled “Mommies R Us” and at age twelve a cleaning business titled “Maid for You”.

Dancing from the age of three, Missy entered the competitive dance field at age nine, choreographing her first dance at age thirteen. She has competed nationally in NYC and Performed at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Missy fine-tuned her craft and became a multi-award winning dancer receiving numerous Gold, Platinum, and first place awards. At age 19 she left her studio to become the youngest choreographer and dance team coach at Onondaga Jr/.Sr High School. She quickly earned the respect of all the teachers, coaches, and staff at the school and took her team to competition where she took first place award.

At age 20 Missy became the Display Designer at Abercrombie and Fitch and after graduating college accepted a position at Verizon Wireless where she was employed for six years. During her time there, she was promoted 5 times and her last two years were in management. She transferred to Minneapolis, MN and by age 24 was acting store manager with a staff of 10 representatives. Missy has had a busy career in such a short time and it is obvious that she does not shy away from hard work and commitment.

In 2011 Missy was married and in 2012 she became a new mother beginning a new chapter in her life. Joining her mom in the Design field will be a great fit for Missy as we watch her bring her own unique perspective and experience to the company. As we can see Missy has always been open to new things, new challenges, and new ideas. We look forward to seeing her creative, innovative, and imaginative talent blossom in this new venture and with her track record for success, have no doubt that we will be seeing a lot of Missy in the future!!

During Missy’s 17 years as a dancer and then choreographer it was apparent that this mother–daughter duo were creatively in sync with each other. For the past five years they discussed in great length their mutual dream of starting a business together, confident that their close and unique relationship would only put them on the path of success. Their individual creative abilities would certainly complement each other for amazing results.

Unfortunately in 2009, Missy transferred to Minneapolis, MN forcing the pair to put their dreams of starting their partnership on hold. Missy became engaged while living in MN, leaving the planning of an engagement celebration and wedding to Betty while Missy was over a thousand miles away. The separation did not affect the amazing job they did bringing a dream wedding to life. It was then that they knew this talent had to be shared with others and only had to wait until the time was right for their partnership to become a reality.

Finally, after two and a half years they were reunited in NY. Surprisingly, Missy discovered that she was going to become a mother. One again their dreams were put on hold! During the long awaited 9 months, Betty designed Missy's one-of-a-kind baby shower and again, their dream got bigger! They had such a wonderful time planning their "It’s All About Mommy" themed baby shower filled with sparkle and fun, inspired from Missy’s days on stage, they knew they were destined to expand their talents into event design as well.

With several more events and another wedding in 2012, their passion for Dream Theme Designs became stronger than ever. It has now been almost a year since the birth of Missy's son and the timing couldn't be more perfect! This has been a long awaited dream of theirs and they can't wait for others to "Experience the Dance of Design...where your dreams come to life!"
