About Us

Farmhouse Inn at Robinson Farm is a rustic wedding and event venue located in Woodstock, Vermont. This historic, five-story barn is the perfect locale for your dream wedding. Tory and Barry can help you arrange every aspect of your event and give you free rein to transform the Inn and the surrounding grounds into any theme you desire.

Facilities and Capacity

The Farmhouse Inn at Robinson Farm offers two unique venue spaces to choose from: The Red Barn and The White Barn. The Red Barn was once a dairy barn but has been renovated into a beautiful two-level venue space with an adjacent outdoor gathering spot. The Red Barn offers enough space for up to 150 of your friends and family for a ceremony or large reception. When guests book The Red Barn for a weekend wedding, they can rest easy knowing that they are the only wedding to be hosted there that weekend. For more intimate events, The White Barn is a 900-square foot space that was first built in 1865. Here, you can host up to 50 guests and take advantage of the attached deck for bar and food service. After the ceremony, guests can retire to The Farmhouse Inn’s assortment of comfortably furnished rooms.

Services Offered

The Farmhouse Inn staff have experience in helping couples host ceremonies and receptions. We are told by couples that we offer good value by providing flexibility regarding outside vendors and including many amenities that you would otherwise need to rent such as farmhouse tables, chairs, ceremony benches, café lighting, and an excellent sound system at no additional cost.

History

The Farmhouse Inn at Robinson Farm is well over a hundred years old, offering guests a unique and historic experience. Whether you decide to be wed in The White Barn, which was built in 1865, or in The Red Barn, which was a dairy barn in 1915, you are taking part in this venue’s rich history.

  • Unhappy to share this review, but we DO NOT recommend this venue. I'm not sure how Tory and Barry can defend the refusal of the refund of our wedding deposit by stating they are paying their taxes with our wedding deposit months before our event (that was not possible due to COVID) but they did. I'm not sure how a venue can withhold deposits, made "on our behalf" to various vendors, but they did. Legal Council, Local Businesses, and Wedding Vendors notified. In fact, it was local businesses and vendors who suggested their handling of our event was very uncharacteristic of any reputable, sustainable, and worth-while venue in the area. Our former wedding coordinator, Ana DiNatale (recommended by them, since fired for failure to perform) even said they have a hard time being flexible. Sorry, Farmhouse Inn. Really wish you didn't sell us an empty bag of goods.

    responded with the following comments.

Across the country and around the world, couples planning the wedding of their dreams in 2020 have had to make some hard decisions and changes to their plans. We are supremely sorry that, despite our best efforts, we were unable to fully mitigate Emily's disappointment in being able to host the wedding she had planned prior to a pandemic that has forced all of us to modify and compromise every aspect of our lives. The contract signed by Emily stipulated that the initial and final payment made are non-refundable when non-performance is attributable to conditions including government restrictions upon travel or transportation, national emergencies, acts of God, and other causes beyond reasonable control of the Farmhouse Inn. Nevertheless, in recognition of the increased planning stresses that we understood our couples to be experiencing, we reached out to all of them in April to offer the option to postpone their wedding to a 2021 date at no additional cost, or to share the cost of a cancellation by returning 50% of paid amounts, less expenses already paid to others. For couples that postponed their reception until 2021 but determined to be married in 2020, we offered to host a small ceremony on their reserved 2020 date at no cost. In June, Emily opted to cancel her October wedding plans with us and agreed to the offered refund, which was promptly made. The choice to cancel the event agreement was made prior to anyone knowing what restrictions would be in place in October. Farmhouse Inn did not cancel Emily's wedding but had been looking forward to working with her to create a safe and memorable celebration. Despite the pandemic, couples throughout Vermont have been able to host modified wedding celebrations. We meet regularly with other Vermont wedding vendors such as venue operators, caterers, and planners, and are confident that we could have hosted a safe, fun, and memorable wedding had Emily elected to proceed. Furthermore, we are told by other couples and vendors that our refund policies are proactive and fair, falling squarely within the generous range of local practices. We write this in September, and the current restrictions would have allowed Emily to welcome guests to her Vermont barn wedding, although with fewer guests, social distancing, and masks. Vermont and Vermonters have managed COVID well - best in the nation - allowing the State to ease pandemic-related regulations. We are currently able to host weddings with up to 75 participants and to host inn guests at full capacity as are all Vermont lodging establishments. Bars are opening, caterers have adopted enhanced safety practices, and restaurants are allowed increased indoor seating capacity. To clarify what seem to be misunderstandings that we had tried to address during our discussions: - We pay all rooms and meals taxes at the time of payment beginning with Emily's original payment in 2019. - Outside vendors require deposits to secure bookings. We pay those folks on the couple's behalf using a portion of the site fee payment, thus diminishing the site fee balance until after the scheduled event. We communicated with all 2020 vendors that they should address requested refunds within their own abilities and policies. We have confirmed that Emily has received some reimbursements directly from outside vendors. - Ana DiNatale is a wonderful event coordinator who knows the venue intimately and is delightful to work with. We appreciate that she conveys to couples the ways that we strive to accommodate their wishes with flexibility and creativity while explaining the limitations that sometimes prevent us from doing so, such as facility, safety, and event permitting restrictions. We will surely continue to recommend Ana to our couples. We wish the very best to Emily, Gennaro, and all wedding couples that have had their plans disrupted as they navigate through these challenging times.
