About Us

The Hotel Monaco, a luxury boutique hotel is located in the fashionable Penn Quarter area, near to City Center, National Portrait Gallery, Capital One Center and other key attractions. This late 19th-century building was the original General Post Office for Washington DC. It has been renovated with the finest modern amenities while maintaining the historical charm of a grand historical landmark. On your most important wedding day, the Hotel Monaco team will provide superior service, while attending to every detail of your wedding celebration.

Venues and Capacity
The Hotel Monaco offers contemporary-appointed event venues, to include the Paris Ballroom with an expansive skylight, ideal for your wedding ceremony and dinner/dancing, with the Athens Room available for an elegant cocktail hour. The hotel is unique in its historical architectural style, dating back to its origins in 1860, designed by notable architect, Robert Mills of South Carolina. The hotel has two grand marble staircases, ideal for wedding portraits.Though, the hotel does not provide an outdoor ceremony location there are several nearby parks, National Monuments, synagogues, and churches available for your ceremony arrangements. The Paris Ballroom once served as the U.S. Postmaster General's Library, and to this day features bookcases and full-length windows to add to its historical charm.The twenty-foot-ceilings and stunning skylight offer grandeur and elegance to your wedding ambiance. The Paris Ballroom can accommodate up to 200 guests.

Hotel Monaco provides over 180 rooms and suites for your guests to enjoy through the wedding weekend. Couples are invited to upgrade their wedding experience to include a night in our Robert Mills Suite. This luxury room features a 72” claw foot tubs and exclusive amenities along with the turndown service.

  • Hotel Monaco was the best choice my husband and I could have ever made for our wedding day. The location is superb; right next to a metro and surrounded by amazing things for guests to do before and after the wedding. The actual hotel is beautiful, a perfect mix of cool art deco design and classic D.C. design. I didn't hire a wedding planner or "day of" coordinator because the staff was so professional and on top of everything. I've never been to a wedding where food was brought out to every table at the same time-Hotel Monaco completely nailed it. Everyone raved about the food during the cocktail hour, dinner, and even the dessert was to die for. My husband and I plan on spending many anniversaries at Hotel Monaco because we had such a magical experience, most of which I can attribute to the amazing staff at the hotel. I wouldn't change a single thing and wish I could relive the day!!!
