About Us

Be transported to the Islands by the beautiful melodies and lyrics of traditional and contemporary Hawaiian songs and the soothing sounds of Hawaiian slack-key guitar with Jim Romano.

Jim Romano, is a guitarist, singer, songwriter in the Hawaiian music duo Pulama. Pulama is the vocal/guitar duo of Jim Romano and Paula Kauapalauki Rudman. They have been singing and playing the music of Hawai'i in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2003.

Pulama's evocative blend of close, pure vocal harmonies and slack-key guitar has been described as "like velvet for my heart." Jim and Paula present their own arrangements of traditional and modern Hawaiian mele, hapa-haole songs and original compositions, arranged with artistry and performed with aloha.

  • Jim Romano was a blessing! It is difficult to accurately articulate how amazing Jim truly was at our wedding. He performed our ceremony music live at the San Francisco Zoo. We wanted to play unique music to fit our style and Safari-themed wedding, and he did not even hesitate to learn all four songs in their entirety. He even recorded the full-length versions and sent them to us with recommendations based on the length of the processional. Now we have our ceremony songs to remember the best day of our lives forever; the best gift we could have asked for. Jim was such a delight to work with as he responded quickly to our emails, proactively sent us messages about our wedding day, and made our ceremony truly unforgettable. I would highly recommend Jim for any event, especially a wedding, to make your day even more perfect.
