About Us

Mountain Valley Ministries is a wedding officiant business and chaplaincy for couples marrying in Sacramento, Eastern Yolo, Southern Placer, Western El Dorado, Calaveras and Amador Counties. The ministry was founded in 2013 and has become recognized as a highly professional, affordable and responsible wedding officiant organization. Recognition includes Thumbtack "Top Pro" Awards for 2014 - 2018 and Wedding Wire "Couples Choice" Award for 2019.

Reverends Jack and Gail Climer and Reverend Terry Melau are ordained non-denominational Protestant ministers. Mountain Valley Ministries was founded as a peer counseling group for United State veterans and their families. Their services are funded by the wedding officiating they do, which ensures that they take every wedding seriously. The team has a specialty in fusion weddings that blend different cultures or beliefs.

Services Offered
The Chaplains at Mountain Valley Ministries are licensed to perform weddings in the state of California. They officiate weddings and help couples with the paperwork, such as processing wedding licenses and filing with the appropriate county. Mountain Valley Ministries officiates all types of ceremonies, including single-religion, interfaith, and non-religious celebrations. They also perform civil unions and vow renewals, and the reverends can attend a couple’s ceremony rehearsal if needed. Reverends Climer and Reverend Melau assist couples to write and read their own vows, and couples may also include any personal traditions they wish, such as the lighting of the unity candle, the pouring of sand, or anything else. A typical ceremony by these officiants takes less than 30 minutes. They have worked with couples of many faiths, from Catholic to Buddhist to Hindu, including agnostic and non-denominational couples, as well as those who are:

  • Anglican
  • Baptist
  • Earth-based
  • Episcopalian
  • Evangelical
  • Lutheran
  • Methodist
  • Orthodox Christian
  • Pagan
  • Presbyterian
  • Quaker

  • So I was planning a wedding across the ocean and my pastor last minute was unable to make the wedding. In a bit of a panic I came across Rev. Climber and he saved my life. Not only was I trying to plan a million things for the wedding, Rev. Climber totally took care of our entire ceremony. When he asked about specifics of the ceremony I told him I hadn't even though of it yet, so he sends me over a list of ideas and then a format. I honestly couldn't have asked for anything else from him. HIGHLY recommend Rev. Climer
