OHEKA Castle is an elegant wedding venue located in Huntington, New York. The property is Long Island’s only chateau venue, fitting in well with the extravagant mansions in the area. Built in 1919, the estate blends European opulence with American innovation, making it a luxurious wedding destination for couples for the past century.
Facilities and Capacity
The chateau is surrounded by immaculately manicured gardens and expansive verdant lawns. Regal fountains and tranquil ponds dot the estate grounds, an ideal backdrop for wedding photos. Engaged couples may hold their ceremony in the Formal Gardens, where they are sure to feel like royalty. There are three reception spaces to choose from: the Grand Ballroom, Formal Dining Room, or Terrace Room. The Otto Kahn Grand Ballroom, named for the estate’s founder, features intricate plaster molding and vintage decor, reminiscent of elaborate weddings from the previous century. Up to 200 attendees can be accommodated in the ballroom for banquet-style seating. The Terrace Room is a popular choice for receptions as it can seat 400 guests and its large windows offer beautiful views of the grounds. Small weddings of up to 100 loved ones suit the Formal Dining Room, where newlyweds and their guests can enjoy an intimate reception experience. The estate has a private dressing room that the couple may use on the day of the wedding for the convenience of getting ready.
Services Offered
OHEKA Castle maintains a one-event-per-day policy, ensuring their staff is at the attention of all engaged couples who marry here. The estate appoints an event attendant to each wedding, who oversees the day’s festivities and can offer assistance to the happy couple. The events and catering teams here will guide you through the wedding planning process, aiding in vendor coordination and creating your catering menu and cake.
Accommodation
This venue has 32 refined guest rooms for wedding guests to avail of. Each room reflects the lavish lifestyle of Long Island’s Gold Coast residents in the 1920s. Overnight stays in the hotel include complimentary continental breakfast and luxury toiletries. The newlyweds will receive a stay in one of the rooms on their wedding night.
History
OHEKA Castle was built in 1919 by German-American investment banker and philanthropist, Otto Kahn. Kahn used the estate as a summer home in the 1920s and threw extravagant parties with guest lists of celebrities, politicians, and even royalty. After Kahn’s death, the estate eventually fell into disrepair. It was purchased in 1984 and lovingly restored to its original splendor. Today, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
