Redwood Library & Athenaeum is a historic wedding venue located in Newport, Rhode Island, about 15 minutes from Newport State Airport. This museum is perfect for couples who prefer to celebrate their special day in the city amongst history and a beautiful garden that will transport them back in time. Redwood Library & Athenaeum was built in 1747 by Abraham Redwood and 45 other colonists. It was initially named the Company of the Redwood Library and was created to make written knowledge available to the greater Newport community. During the Revolutionary War, the library was used by the occupying army and many books went missing. Today, about 92% of those missing books have been returned or replaced. The Redwood Library & Athenaeum was designated as a National Historical Landmark in 1966.
