About Us

The Rode Family has proudly been serving Southern New Jersey and beyond for over 130 years. Whether it's our popular BBQ from Rode's Catering in the summer, a delicious meal at our restaurant and bar, Rode's Fireside, or a casual affair in our historic barn,  we are proud to serve our growing South Jersey community.

Rode's Barn, located conveniently behind Rode's Fireside in Swedesboro, NJ, dates back to 1940 and was built by the Rode family for their poultry wholesale business. Today, the casual and rustic barn is used for any type of event including casual weddings, holiday parties, baby and bridal showers, birthday parties, engagement parties, music events, photoshoots, movie production and more! Please inquire about your event and we would be happy to try to accommodate your needs.

*Rode's Catering available for custom, full service catering. An Event Coordinator will work with you to design a menu tailored to your interests and budget

*Heat available/ No air conditioning (Due to the heat, we do not book events in the month of July)

*Bar/Platform for bands or DJs]

*Rounds tables and standard black folding chairs included in rental fee

* Wedding rental fees vary based on the month and day of the week (5 hrs) $1600-$2000

*Parking on site available

* Local hotels include The Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn in Logan Township, NJ (located next to one another and within 5 miles from the barn) 

* The barn was not built with plumbing so there are no bathrooms inside- Full bathrooms with running water, heat and air, flushing toilets, etc are located directly outside of the barn

*There are no bridal suites on location

*Ceremonies on site if permitted. Please note that due to the size of the barn and maximum occupancy, all ceremonies held on site are done while guests are seated at their dinner tables. Unfortunately, the size of the barn does not allow for chairs to be separate from tables if guest count exceeds 50 guests.

Rode's Catering, the in house caterer for Rode's Barn, specializes in off-premise full service catering. So in addition to the multiple weekly events that are now in the barn, we also care for our multiple off-premise jobs.   • We knew we wanted a barn wedding but some of the other local venues were out of our price range. Enter Rode's. First, I love that the barn is an authentic 1940's barn. It gave an element of authenticity to our "rustic chic" vibe and the space is BEAUTIFUL. Photos do not do the inside of the barn with it's raftered ceilings and wooden plank floors justice. It's also a perfectly blank canvas to decorate as much or as little as you please. We opted to have our ceremony in the outdoor tree chapel area which was also beautiful especially with the fall colors as a backdrop. The plank benches are plentiful and none of our guests had to stand. Leading up to the wedding, we communicated mainly with Alyssa and Kaila who were beyond helpful. Alyssa set up an amazing tasting for us to finalize our menu and it was so hard to narrow down our choices!
