About Us

Stephanie Claussen has been specializing in Renaissance and Early Music and playing harp for weddings since 2000. After studying for eleven years with Twin Cities harpist Cathy Victorsen, Stephanie received her Bachelors of Music in harp performance at the University of Minnesota under the instruction of Kathy Kienzle, principal harpist of the Minnesota Orchestra. In addition to playing at weddings and special events, Stephanie teaches harp students of all ages in her studio in St. Paul, Minnesota. In the spring of 2014 she was awarded an Arts Tour Minnesota grant through the MN State Arts Board to give a concert series throughout Minnesota.

Having worked for many years as a free-lance musician, Stephanie is professional, flexible, and capable. Her specialty is in Celtic and folk music, but she welcomes requests in all genres and makes them sound effortless.

Claussen has performed as a member of the University of Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, indie band “Acoustic Nerve”, and the University of Minnesota Early Music Ensemble. She has made guest appearances with the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the North Heights Chorale, the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra, the Paris Conservatory’s Saxophone Ensemble and the Eat Street Players. For eleven years she performed as a wandering minstrel at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

Her diverse repertoire encompasses classical, folk, pop, sacred and Early music.

  • Stephanie was wonderful, and working with her was so easy! She's an excellent harpist. One of the things I loved about working with her is that she has several recorded albums so that I could listen to the quality of her work before I even contacted her. During our planning process, she invited us for a private mini-concert so we could hear our wedding selections played in person and work out some timing issues etc. She was very flexible with my music selections and ceremony timeline. She was our ONLY music vendor for our wedding - and we could not have been happier with the elegance that she brought to our day
