About Us

The Cottage in the Pines is a country farm venue located near Sparrow Bush, New York that hosts weddings and other special occasions. The enterprising duo of owner Lynn Feasley and innkeeper Julia Molloy run this beautifully restored event hall venue. Nestled by a mill pond in the majestic Catskill region, this facility offers outstanding scenic vistas. You can enjoy this splendid locale as the setting for wedding celebrations that you and your loved ones will remember for years to come.

Facilities and Capacity

This rustic venue is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has a history of attending to traveler needs for over a century. This facility is set amid a 100-acre property and offers several elegant and welcoming spaces for your special festivities. You can get ready in rooms on-site before your ceremony, held outdoors or in Phoebe’s Garden, a 2,400-square-foot tavern. A cocktail reception in Phoebe’s can have your guests warm by the fireplace, enjoy beverages at the Irish-style bar, or cool on the patio. You and your guests can then enjoy a reception in the 3,800-square-foot Magic Lantern, a space designed for both entertainment and dining. The Magic Lantern offers lounge areas, a coat room, a catering kitchen, restrooms, and an outdoor deck. Over 60 parking spaces including dedicated wheelchair-accessible spaces, along with ramps to Phoebe’s Garden and The Magic Lantern, allows all guests to enjoy the festivities.

Services Offered

Wedding events that can be held at The Cottage in the Pines include engagement parties, bridal showers, elopements, ceremonies, and receptions. Phoebe’s Garden and The Magic Lantern offer round and rectangular tables along with Chiavari chairs for you and your guests. For guests, there are three rooms of on-site accommodation, with a near-neighbor offering summertime glamping tents.

History

The story of the Cottage dates back to around 1895 when Peter and Mary Dunswald initiated the construction of their family home. This complex, then known as Pine Park Cottage, also served as a boarding house through to the early 1960s. Under new ownership after 2012, construction reinvigorated this historic property to new heights while keeping its essential character and charm intact.

The Cottage in the Pines is conveniently situated a 15-minute drive from Port Jervis, New York, just off New York State Route 42. The New Jersey Transit Jervis train line stops at this venue, 80 miles from Penn Station in NYC. The Cottage is around a two-hour drive from NYC and a three-hour drive from Philadelphia.

  • I can't say enough good things about this place! Lynn was amazing, so open to my ideas and willing to make them happen within my budget. She had supportive and creative feedback and it felt like every worry I had about our big day was taken care of and she made it happen. She was quick to respond to any concern I had and made the day all about us. Nothing seemed to phase her and it was an amazing feeling having her on my side. She must sleep with her phone because she always was available to talk to about the food, flowers, music... thoughts on seating and she made it all so easy for us. The Old Dutch farm is so beautiful and cozy...a true get away. The grounds were immaculate and looked just like the photos I had brought of my "dream venue."
