The Main Event by Emily is a Smithfield based event business that offers Design, Decor, Flowers, Planning, and Coordinating throughout Hampton Roads and beyond. We have been offering the highest customer service to our couples and clients for over 15 years, and are proudly the only one stop shop for all of the main events in your life.

  • Design & Decor: Designing events is how Emily got her start. She has an eye for taking ordinary objects and turning them into masterpieces. Her passion for making events true representations of her clients and their personalities is unmatched by any other designer. She spends countless hours meeting with clients, presenting design options, preparing supplies, and setting up events. Her goal is to create an atmosphere in which attendees can see the personal touches of the host throughout the decor.
  • Planning: The Main Event's planning department loves helping clients plan their events from beginning to end. Their attention to detail and vast knowledge of venues, vendors, and event etiquette allows them to relieve the pressures of planning from their clients. They love helping couples from the moment of "I will" to "I do" and everything in between.
  • Coordinating: Perhaps you have the planning covered, but would like someone to ensure that everything goes according to the plan you set. If so, The Main Event is happy to offer Month of Coordinating services. Our coordinating services include creating an event timeline, communicating with other vendors, and being present throughout the event to ensure everything runs smoothly.
  • Event Flowers: Flowers have become a staple at The Main Event. Emily's goal has always been to offer her clients a variety of services at unbeatable prices, and her breath taking floral arrangements and bouquets allow her to do just that. Her eye for design allows her to create stunning arrangements that are truly one of a kind. When you hire The Main Event for decor and flowers, you ensure that they will compliment each other seamlessly.
  • The Flower Shop: The year of 2017 brought about many changes for The Main Event by Emily. We bid adieu to our first storefront on Main Street, and upgraded to a larger building on South Church Street to accommodate our growth. Our much larger work space has allowed us to add a full time floral shop to our existing services. This exciting addition has allowed us to become a full service florist. With four talented designers on staff, we are sure to have the style you are looking for. We produce one of a kind pieces that are sure to make your gift one to remember. We are excited to have more space, more talented designers, and more services to offer our clients.
  • The Formal Wear Boutique: Our Formal Wear Boutique offers a wide variety of formal attire and accessories. We have over 200 wedding dresses, as well as more than 500 formal dresses that range from prom dresses to mother-of-the-bride dresses, and everything in between. We are also proud to offer tuxedos and suites from Jim’s Formal Wear, both for rent and for purchase. Need accessories? We’ve got you covered there, as well. We have shoes that vary in size from child to adult, formal jewelry, handbags, and more. In addition to our amazing selection of one-of-a-kind items, we also have on site tailoring available for your convenience.
  • The Gift Shop: The Main Event has grown from a small design company to something much bigger. Not only does Emily offer her clients decor, floral services and planning, but also a store front filled with unique gifts and treasures. Her passion to help other small business owners has allowed her to fill her store with many locally made, one-of-a-kind items you just won't find elsewhere. Not planning an event? Swing by the shop and say hello anyway. You will be supporting local artists when you do!

  • As far as design and flowers go... it exceeded every bit of my expectations. I got design quotes and floral quotes and the price by-far was the best in Virginia. Emily teared up in our first visit about her passion for providing "dream weddings" within the bride's budget but I had no idea how much she meant that. I literally gave her my Pinterest board and she brought it to life. The bouquets looked IDENTICAL to what I picked out but more beautiful. I wanted rustic car parts that she did not have and she went digging for them in her free time. Literally every touch she put in there I cried. She could charge double for what she did with my wedding. My husband was blown away with it all. He still can't stop talking about how wonderfully it was decorated.
