History Originally built in 1926, The Masonic--also known as Detroit’s Masonic Temple--is the largest building of its kind in the world. Designed by the George Mason and Company architecture firm in the early 1920s, the venue’s original design included three theaters, a Shrine building, a Chapel, eight lodge rooms, a barber shop and even a 16-lane bowling alley.
Not only is the Masonic a beautiful venue, Melanie, the on site coordinator, is truly phenomenal. She is incredibly responsive, thoughtful, detail oriented and is just a nice, easy person to work with. This made planning my own wedding ten thousand times easier!!
Our guests could not stop talking about how romantic, gorgeous and unique the Masonic was. It was a total hit. Be mindful that it is an older building, and some of the enhancements offered like uplighting, charger plates and chiavari chairs are additional expenses. Even still you'll find that the Masonic is a really good value, especially when compared to similar sites in the metro Detroit area.
