Live painting by The Painting Stoof captures the scenery and wedding couple at the reception onto a stretched canvas using acrylic paint. The artist sets up the easel and begins to paint prior to guest arrival at the reception. By the time guests arrive, the painting is starting to take shape. The artist continues to paint throughout the reception, and interacts with guests as they watch the painting process. The painting is completed at the end of the reception (or completed with additional detail in the artist’s studio, depending on the selected package), and presented to the wedding couple.

What exactly is live painting?
Live painting is a form of entertainment for guests at an event. The artist paints the scenery, capturing the architecture, people’s expressions and style, room lighting, and other accents at the event on a canvas. Guests may interact with the artist and discuss the painting while the artist is at work.

What materials do you need for the event?
The Painting Stoof simply needs a small table and a nearby outlet for a live painting event. The caterer or venue typically arranges this prior to the event. She brings the paint, canvas, easels, brushes, lighting, and cleaning materials.
Say I book The Painting Stoof to do a live painting at my wedding reception. What timeline can I expect for the night?
The artist arrives approximately 1 hour prior to the start of the wedding reception to set up and begin to capture the elements of the room on canvas. The painting is completed within 4 to 5 hours at the reception, or the piece is completed after additional detail is added at The Painting Stoof art studio, depending on the package purchased.
If your wedding reception begins at 5PM, the professional artist would arrive at 4PM to set up and start painting. By the time the guests arrive, the painting will start to take form. By the end of the reception, the painting will capture the venue, bride and groom, and accents of the room. The artist will clean up her station and depart at the end of the reception or after 5 painting hours, whichever occurs first. If the client chose the Jade package, the painting will be presented to them at the end of the event. If the client chose the Sapphire or Diamond package, the painting will be completed in the artist’s studio and delivered several weeks following the event.
What is the cancellation policy?
A non-refundable installment of $400 is due upon booking your live painting event. You may cancel for any reason, however the $400 installment is non-refundable.
